In a dramatic escalation of the fallout from the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, federal authorities have identified the suspect captured on video launching rocks at federal vehicles—an act officials say could have been deadly.
According to U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, 40-year-old Elpidio Reyna of Compton, California, is wanted for assaulting federal officers during the weekend unrest that followed intensified ICE operations in the region. The FBI is now offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
“Elpidio Reyna can run, but he can’t hide,” Essayli posted on X. “He threw rocks at federal officers leaving a command post in Paramount on Saturday—a brazen attack caught on film that could have resulted in deaths.”
The incident, which took place Saturday afternoon in Paramount, was recorded and widely circulated on social media. In the video, a man wearing a motorcycle helmet is seen hurling rocks at moving law enforcement vehicles. One federal officer was injured, and several vehicles sustained damage.
Reyna faces federal charges for assault on a federal officer, a felony that carries up to eight years in prison if convicted.
Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed on Fox News that the FBI executed a search warrant at Reyna’s residence and that he will be added to the FBI’s Most Wanted list.
“If you assault a police officer, if you rob a store, if you loot, if you spit on police officers—we’re coming after you federally,” Bondi declared.
The incident occurred amid violent protests triggered by ICE raids that began Friday across Los Angeles County, targeting undocumented individuals with criminal histories involving sex offenses, gang affiliations, and weapons or drug-related charges.
Dozens of rioters have been arrested across both Los Angeles and San Francisco since the unrest began, facing charges including vandalism, looting, and assaulting law enforcement officers. Federal and state officials have vowed to pursue harsh penalties for anyone involved in attacks on law enforcement personnel.
