During a recent appearance on the This Past Weekend podcast with comedian Theo Von, U.S. Vice President JD Vance was caught off guard by a tweet from Elon Musk alleging that former President Donald Trump was named in sealed Jeffrey Epstein files. The moment was captured in real-time and has since circulated widely online.
While the podcast was being recorded, Von read the since-deleted tweet aloud to Vance. The tweet stated:
“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
Vance appeared surprised by the post, responding on-air:
“Ok, wow. I haven’t even seen this one.”
“First of all, absolutely not. Donald Trump didn’t do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein. Whatever the Democrats and the media say about him, that’s totally BS.”
Musk’s comment — which was deleted shortly after being posted — came amid ongoing political tensions and just days after he stepped away from his advisory role in the Trump-aligned Division of Governmental Enterprise (DOGE). His departure reportedly followed disagreements over policy and public messaging.
Throughout the interview, Vance attempted to deescalate any perceived rift between Trump and Musk, calling Musk “a transformational entrepreneur” and emphasizing the importance of unity within the conservative movement.
“I just think it’s a huge mistake for the world’s wealthiest man to be at odds with the world’s most powerful man.”
In a separate post, Musk asserted his influence on the 2024 election outcomes, claiming that without his involvement, Republicans would have lost their congressional edge. He wrote:
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51–49 in the Senate.”
House Democrats have since responded to Musk’s controversial post with a public letter urging the full release of the Epstein files, citing public concern over allegations involving high-profile individuals.
As of now, no official evidence has been released confirming the claims in Musk’s deleted tweet, and the Epstein court records in question remain partially sealed under court order.
