Newly Surfaced Audio Exposes Disturbing Past of Charlie Kirk’s Suspected Killer as Erika Kirk Steps Into Leadership
Newly surfaced audio of Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, paints a chilling picture of the man prosecutors say confessed to the crime.
The recording, recovered from a long-deleted YouTube livestream, shows Robinson laughing and joking with friends while playing the video game Minecraft as a teenager. The contrast between the playful audio and the violent crime he is accused of committing years later has stunned both investigators and the public.
The Resurfaced Recording
Robinson, known online by the handle “Craftin”, is heard in the recording mocking another player who misspelled his gamertag.
“Who put a G at the end of my name? What are you, a psychopath?” Robinson asked, before celebrating an in-game victory.
The clip, first reported by the Daily Mail, was uploaded years ago by another gamer known as YoYoSquidy. Friends who played alongside Robinson described him as “intense” and sometimes “disturbing.”
At one point in the audio, another player even jokingly called Robinson a “psychopath” — a remark that now feels far more sinister in hindsight.
Prosecutors Build Their Case
Prosecutors allege that Robinson fatally shot Kirk, 31, with a bolt-action hunting rifle during a Sept. 10 rally at Utah Valley University. The attack stunned the conservative movement and left the future of Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA, in immediate question.
Authorities say Robinson confessed to the killing, though his defense team has not commented on the claims. He remains in federal custody as the case moves forward.
A Disturbing Online Trail
Beyond the resurfaced livestream, investigators have uncovered a troubling digital footprint tied to Robinson. His Steam profile was associated with the graphic game Furry Shades of Gay, which advertises itself as a title focused on “queer relationships, sex, and humor.”
Robinson reportedly played the game long enough to unlock rare items, including a sticker of a cat in a maid’s outfit.
On FurAffinity, a popular furry content platform, the handle craftin247 — also linked to Robinson — was found watching explicit material by well-known artists in the subculture.
Friends from high school confirmed he used the same alias for gaming accounts and adult websites, describing his behavior as eccentric and often extreme.
“He Always Went Too Far”
One former classmate told reporters that Robinson’s political views grew more radical during his teenage years.
“He would always just be ranting and arguing about them,” the friend said. “We played games together, but he always went too far — like he was on edge.”
The resurfaced livestream has only deepened questions about how such warning signs went unaddressed for years.
Turning Point USA Moves Forward
While prosecutors build their case against Robinson, Turning Point USA announced Thursday that Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow, has been unanimously elected as the group’s new CEO and Chair of the Board.
In a statement, the board said Charlie had privately expressed that Erika should assume leadership in the event of his death.
“Charlie prepared all of us for a moment like this one,” the board said. “He worked tirelessly to ensure Turning Point USA was built to survive even the greatest tests. And now, it’s our great pride to announce Erika Kirk as the new CEO and Chair of the Board.”
The statement described Erika as the natural successor to carry forward her husband’s vision of faith, patriotism, and cultural renewal.
Erika Kirk’s Mission
“All of us at Turning Point USA have a special role in carrying Charlie Kirk’s mantle,” the statement continued. “As Charlie always said, ‘We have a country to save.’ We will not surrender or kneel before evil. The attempt to destroy Charlie’s work will only make it more powerful and enduring.”
The organization’s announcement comes at a pivotal moment, as Turning Point seeks to reassure supporters and donors that Kirk’s mission will not end with his assassination.
Looking Ahead
A public memorial service for Charlie Kirk is scheduled for Sept. 21 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Thousands are expected to attend, including President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The resurfaced audio of Tyler Robinson has added a new layer of shock and horror to an already devastating story. For many, it illustrates the dangerous transformation of a young man whose online life revealed disturbing clues long before tragedy struck.
As Erika Kirk steps into leadership, the movement her husband built now faces the challenge of carrying his vision into the future — while the nation grapples with the aftermath of his violent death.
