Hunter Biden Blames Democratic Disloyalty for Trump’s 2024 Victory
Hunter Biden is breaking his silence in the aftermath of the 2024 presidential election, and his words are already stirring new tensions inside the Democratic Party. In a soon-to-be-released podcast interview, the president’s son says internal party disloyalty played a direct role in handing Donald Trump a comeback win—and he’s not holding back.
Speaking to former DNC Chair Jaime Harrison on the debut episode of At Our Table, Hunter Biden claimed the Democrats squandered their incumbency advantage and fractured in a moment that demanded unity.
“We lost the election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party. That’s my position,” Biden said. “We had the advantage of incumbency. We had the advantage of an incredibly successful administration, and the Democratic Party literally melted down.”
Hunter’s Take Sparks New Intra-Party Debate
Biden’s comments come as Democratic leaders regroup and reassess following a narrow but decisive 2024 defeat. As President Trump settles into his second term, the Democratic base is grappling with mixed emotions—ranging from frustration to finger-pointing.
Hunter Biden, a polarizing figure in his own right, framed the loss as a self-inflicted wound, suggesting Democrats failed to stand behind his father when it mattered most.
His statements appear to be aimed at factions within the party that pushed for alternative nominees during the primaries or distanced themselves from the president amid mounting health concerns and ethical scrutiny.
“We are going to fight amongst ourselves for the next three years until there’s a nominee,” Biden warned. “And then with the nominee, we better as hell get behind that nominee.”
Fallout From the Election and Presidential Pardon
Adding further controversy, Hunter Biden was granted a presidential pardon by his father weeks after the election loss. The pardon cleared him of multiple federal charges, including firearm violations and unpaid taxes, drawing sharp criticism from Republicans and mixed reactions from Democrats.
President Biden defended the pardon, stating, “Hunter was singled out only because he is my son.”
However, many in the party worry that the move backfired politically, giving Trump and his allies fresh ammunition to question Democratic ethics and campaign messaging.
Democratic Tensions Run Deep
In the wake of Trump’s return, longtime Democratic figures like Nancy Pelosi and other senior leaders have openly questioned whether President Biden should have stepped aside earlier. Reports suggest First Lady Jill Biden was especially angered by calls for her husband to drop out during the primaries.
The rift between party leadership and the Biden family appears to be widening, even as Democrats stress the need to focus on Trump’s policy agenda, including his controversial tax plan and his handling of issues like the Jeffrey Epstein case.
President Biden’s recent interview with The New York Times, in which he defended using an autopen to sign pardons, has only intensified scrutiny and left Democrats debating whether the party can unite in time for 2028.
Looking Ahead
Hunter Biden’s harsh assessment may serve as a rallying cry or a warning, depending on how the party chooses to move forward. His assertion that the Democrats “melted down” in the face of a winnable race reflects what some see as growing disillusionment within the party’s base.
With Donald Trump’s comeback complete, and the GOP emboldened by wins in both chambers of Congress, Democrats face a critical period of reflection and reorganization.
Whether Hunter Biden’s words ignite a renewed commitment to party unity—or deepen existing divides—remains to be seen.
