House Speaker Johnson Hails Trump’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ as Historic Win for Conservatives

NOTE: VIDEO AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE:

House Speaker Mike Johnson is calling President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” (BBB) the “most conservative legislation we’ve ever worked on,” praising it as a landmark package that delivers on the core promises of the America First agenda.

Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News, Johnson explained that the bill represents a unified Republican effort to bring sweeping reforms to Washington. “Eighty-five to ninety percent of this bill was developed in the House,” Johnson noted. “The Senate refined it—making it even more conservative in places and adjusting others—but as President Trump said, this is no longer just a House or Senate bill. It belongs to the American people.”

Johnson emphasized the urgency and purpose behind the legislation, pointing to the July 4th target for passage. “This is about fulfilling the mandate voters gave us last November,” he said. “President Trump campaigned on bold, clear promises. We did too. This bill is how we deliver on them.”

According to Johnson, the bill—crafted over 14 months—contains sweeping tax reforms, slashes unnecessary spending, and imposes new work requirements for federal aid programs. “We’re at the one-yard line,” Johnson said. “We’re pushing it through to score for the American people. This bill includes the largest tax cuts in modern history and generates $1.6 trillion in savings.”

The House Speaker added that the legislation will significantly reduce the size and scope of the federal government while improving efficiency. “The American people want a government that works for them—not the other way around—and Republicans are making that happen.”

One key provision involves work requirements for Medicaid recipients. Johnson clarified, “We’re protecting Medicaid for those who truly need it: the elderly, disabled, and pregnant mothers. But if you’re a young, able-bodied man, we expect you to contribute. That’s why we’ve included a 20-hour weekly requirement of work, job search, or community service.”

He stressed that this provision enjoys broad public support and will prevent abuse while preserving the program for vulnerable Americans.

Johnson also touted the economic impact of the bill, drawing parallels to Trump’s first term. “After Trump’s first two years, we had the strongest economy in history until COVID hit. We’re aiming to do it again—this time, even better.”

Among the bill’s highlights are tax-free tips and overtime pay, plus new tax credits for seniors on Social Security. “The average American could see a $10,000 increase in take-home pay,” Johnson stated.

“This legislation benefits every American. It is solid, effective policy that fuels economic growth, honors our promises, and puts America First,” Johnson concluded.
