Homan: Trump Border Enforcement Slashes Illegal Crossings to Record Lows

NOTE: Homan’s X-post at the end of the article.

Illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border plunged to their lowest level in recorded history in June 2025, according to former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director and current Border Czar Tom Homan. Reporting to The New York Post and via his social media, Homan credited President Donald Trump’s robust immigration enforcement policies for the dramatic decline.

Homan posted on X (formerly Twitter) that only 6,070 illegal border crossings were recorded last month — a historic low by any measure. Remarkably, none of the migrants apprehended were released into the United States.

“President Trump has created the most secure border in the history of the nation and the data proves it. We have never seen numbers this low. Never,” Homan declared.

He attributed the sharp drop to aggressive mass deportations and enforcement efforts by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Border Patrol. Homan praised the federal agents, writing, “God bless the men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol and God bless the men and women of ICE. The interior arrests and consequences help to drive down illegal immigration. The TRUMP EFFECT keeps America winning.”

The scale of the decline is striking when compared with figures during the Biden administration, when daily illegal crossings often surpassed the entire total for June 2025. “That is less than a single day under Biden,” Homan said. “As a matter of fact, the total number of encounters is less than half of a single day under Biden on many days. Also, none of the 6,070 were released into the U.S. ZERO.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott confirmed the trend, noting that in just the first two days of June 2024, more than 7,000 migrants crossed illegally — a number already higher than the total for all of June 2025.

Comparing recent years, CBP recorded more than 83,000 crossings in June 2024, approximately 99,000 in June 2023, and nearly 192,000 in June 2022.

Previously, President Trump had set a record low for border crossings in February 2025, with 8,347 apprehensions. This latest data shows a continuing downward trajectory.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also hailed the enforcement efforts on social media: “The world is hearing our message: the border is closed to law breakers. Under President Trump, our Border Patrol agents are empowered to do their job once again, secure our border, and protect the American people.”

The historic reduction in illegal crossings marks a major policy achievement for the Trump administration, reflecting a decisive reversal of previous years’ trends and signaling a strengthened U.S. border security posture.
