They showed up in lab coats. Tourists walked past. And the backlash hit instantly.
This week, Democrats launched a series of dramatic, attention-hungry protests against President Donald Trump’s signature legislation — the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” But instead of shifting public opinion, they sparked mockery, memes, and outrage.
Stunt Backfires Outside House Speaker’s Office
On Wednesday, the Democratic Doctors Caucus — a group of six left-wing lawmakers — gathered outside House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office to denounce the bill. They wore white medical jackets for dramatic effect. The group includes Reps. Ami Bera (CA), Herb Conaway Jr. (NJ), Maxine Dexter (OR), Kelly Morrison (MN), Raul Ruiz (CA), and Kim Schrier (WA).
However, the moment they started speaking, crowds of tourists disrupted the scene, treating the event like just another sideshow.
Despite their best efforts, the lawmakers failed to offer clear objections to the bill’s actual content.
Swalwell and Jeffries Go Off Script — and Off the Rails
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) joined the protest from a different angle. He dropped a series of profanity-laced rants on social media, repeatedly calling the bill the “big bulls*** bill.” In one clip, a man shouted, “What the f*** is up with JD Vance?” — and Swalwell simply smiled and kept going.
Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries tried to go viral by posting a photo of himself holding a baseball bat on Instagram.
The response? Brutal.
“This ain’t it bro,” one user commented.
“Who thought this photo was a good idea?” asked another.
Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) posted a quick jab on X, calling it “Low energy.”
Polling Drops — Democrats Panic
These media stunts come as Democratic approval ratings in Congress continue to slide. According to new polling, voters have grown tired of performative politics — and many say they want real solutions, not social media drama.
As a result, Democrats appear to be grasping at straws, turning to flashy protests and viral clips instead of offering policy alternatives.
Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” Gains Momentum
President Trump’s bill is a sweeping proposal that includes tax reform, stricter immigration enforcement, and “America First” spending priorities. The legislation serves as a cornerstone of Trump’s 2025 legislative agenda.
Speaker Mike Johnson threw his full support behind it, posting:
“The One Big Beautiful Bill is essential to enacting @POTUS’s AMERICA FIRST agenda. There is no time to delay. We NEED this bill for a safer, stronger, and more prosperous country.”
Unlike his opponents, Trump is staying focused. And with Republicans unified, the bill could move forward quickly — no matter how loud the protests get.
Bottom Line: Is This the Best the Democrats Have?
First came the lab coats. Then the bat photo. Then the profanity.
If this is the opposition’s best strategy, Trump may already have won this round.
