Talk Tough, Vote Weak: Pelosi Condemns Trump, Then Votes to Let Him Off the Hook

NOTE: VIDEO AT THE END OF ARTICLE

House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi is facing backlash after denouncing President Donald Trump’s recent military action against Iran—then turning around and voting against his impeachment over the very strike she claimed was “unconstitutional.”

The controversy began when President Trump launched a precision bombing operation on three of Iran’s top nuclear enrichment facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—claiming it as a decisive move to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions and safeguard both American and Israeli lives.

“This evening, I can inform the world that the strikes were an extraordinary military success,” Trump announced. “Iran’s critical nuclear enrichment facilities have been entirely and utterly destroyed.”

Despite the global significance of the mission, Pelosi condemned the action, saying Trump had “disregarded the Constitution” by not seeking congressional authorization. “This operation jeopardizes American lives and heightens the risk of further escalation,” she warned.

But just days later, when a resolution to impeach Trump over the Iran strike was brought to the House floor, Pelosi joined Republicans and moderate Democrats in tabling the motion, effectively shutting down the impeachment effort.

The move stunned many in Washington and among the Democratic base. Some saw it as Pelosi trying to have it both ways—attacking Trump in public while quietly avoiding the political cost of another impeachment.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries echoed Pelosi’s outrage over the strike, accusing Trump of “misleading the nation,” but he too fell short of supporting impeachment.

Meanwhile, reports indicate Iran and Israel have since agreed to a ceasefire, and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei is reportedly in hiding, facing intense pressure from within his own regime.

Political observers now say Pelosi’s attempt to criticize Trump without following through is a sign of a fractured and uncertain Democratic strategy—especially with public opinion showing growing support for Trump’s bold stance on foreign threats.

“She called it unconstitutional, but when push came to shove—she folded,” said one GOP strategist. “That’s Washington hypocrisy at its finest.”
