Tensions over President Donald Trump’s recent military action in Iran exploded on social media this weekend, as Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) delivered a fiery, profanity-laced rant that stunned viewers—and ended with an unexpected nod to a Republican lawmaker.
During a Saturday night Instagram Live broadcast, Crockett didn’t hold back, accusing Trump of overstepping his authority by launching Operation Midnight Hammer—the large-scale U.S. airstrike campaign on Iranian nuclear sites—without congressional approval.
“The mofo that resides in the White House has unilaterally, in my estimation, declared war,” Crockett fumed, using the euphemism commonly understood as shorthand for a vulgar term. Her outrage centered on Trump’s decision to order airstrikes on three fortified Iranian nuclear facilities without first seeking authorization from Congress.
“This administration does not care about any rules, any norms, any laws, nor the Constitution,” Crockett continued. “We cannot be a civilized country if there is no law and order.”
The freshman Democrat from Texas, known for her bold progressive stances, accused Trump of “dragging America into conflict” without transparency or accountability. She framed the Iran operation as the latest example of the administration’s disregard for democratic checks and balances.
But in a surprising twist, Crockett offered rare praise for a Republican lawmaker—reportedly a critic of Trump—who has been pushing to rein in presidential war powers. Though she didn’t name the GOP figure directly during the livestream, Fox News later identified the Republican as one of several conservatives calling for limits on unilateral military actions by the executive branch.
Crockett also used the stream to take aim at Trump’s immigration enforcement, suggesting the administration’s focus on migrants was misguided. “They are not the people putting us in harm’s way,” she said. “It is him and his administration.”
Her message concluded with a rallying cry to her supporters: speak out, stay vigilant, and hold the president accountable.
Crockett’s video sparked a firestorm online, drawing sharp reactions across the political spectrum. Supporters applauded her blunt honesty, while critics labeled the profanity and tone as inappropriate for a sitting member of Congress.
Still, her comments have reignited a broader debate in Washington over executive war powers—and exposed rifts not only between parties but within them.
