Washington, D.C. — The political heat over President Donald Trump’s recent strike on Iranian nuclear facilities has ignited a fierce public feud between two of Congress’s most polarizing figures: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
Greene unleashed a scathing attack on Ocasio-Cortez on Sunday, slamming the progressive Democrat for what she called “outright hypocrisy” over her condemnation of Trump’s Iran decision. The verbal assault followed AOC’s call for Trump’s impeachment, accusing him of violating the Constitution and the War Powers Resolution by launching the strikes without congressional approval.
“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” AOC posted on X. “He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”
But Greene wasn’t having it.
“Shut up, you pathetic little hypocrite,” Greene fired back on X. “YOU fully supported our military and intelligence community running the proxy war against Russia in Ukraine. And you VOTED to fund the Ukraine war under your President with dementia. You don’t get to play anti-war and moral outrage anymore.”
The Georgia Republican accused AOC and her Democratic colleagues of opportunistic outrage—being comfortable with U.S. military action when it aligned with their agenda, but suddenly crying foul when a Republican president takes decisive action abroad.
Greene also criticized AOC for enabling a “war machine” under the Biden administration, which included tens of billions in funding for Ukraine’s defense against Russia. “The same people who sent billions to Kyiv without blinking are now talking about peace and constitutional limits? Please,” Greene said in a follow-up interview with Newsmax.
The clash marks a significant escalation in the political battle surrounding Trump’s bold foreign policy move, which has divided both parties. Some moderate Democrats have echoed AOC’s call for accountability, while Republican leaders have largely rallied behind the president, praising the strikes as a “decisive blow” to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
As the impeachment debate begins to brew, Greene’s message is clear: Democrats can’t have it both ways.
