Senator Elizabeth Warren is facing mounting criticism after a passionate detransitioner publicly challenged her defense of gender transition procedures for minors — just days after the Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s ban on such treatments.
In a landmark 6-3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court allowed Tennessee’s 2023 law to remain in effect, preventing physicians from providing puberty blockers, hormone therapies, and surgical gender-transition procedures to individuals under the age of 18. The ruling does not offer a definitive judgment on the constitutionality of the law but affirms the state’s right to regulate gender-related medical care for minors while litigation proceeds.
The ruling immediately drew reactions from both sides of the political spectrum. Progressive figures like Sen. Warren blasted the court’s decision, describing it as a politically motivated attack on trans youth.
“Trans kids suffer when they don’t get medically necessary care,” Warren wrote in a social media post. “This is a brazen political decision by the Supreme Court. My heart is with trans kids and their loved ones. I won’t stop fighting to make sure they can be exactly who they are.”
However, that message was met with an emotional and unexpected rebuke — this time not from conservatives or politicians, but from a detransitioned young woman who directly addressed Warren’s claims in a viral video posted shortly after the ruling.
“I was one of those so-called ‘trans kids,’” she said. “I was rushed into medical transition at 15 — puberty blockers, testosterone, double mastectomy — all before I was old enough to understand the consequences.”
Visibly emotional, she continued: “Senator Warren says it’s ‘medically necessary.’ Does she know what it’s like to regret decisions made under pressure, with adults affirming you instead of questioning anything? That wasn’t care. That was harm.”
