A private message shared publicly by Donald Trump has set off a wave of concern, confusion, and criticism across social media, with many questioning both the content of the message and the timing of its release.
On Tuesday, June 17, Trump posted a screenshot to Truth Social showing a personal message sent to him by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee. The message, written in deeply religious and emotional terms, praises Trump as a historic figure destined to lead during one of the world’s most volatile conflicts.
“You were spared in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Huckabee wrote, referencing Trump’s failed assassination attempt in July 2024, “to be the most consequential President in a century—maybe ever.” Huckabee then framed Trump’s survival and leadership as divinely ordained, writing: “There is only ONE voice that matters. HIS voice.”
The message continued with overt praise and spiritual undertones: “I don’t reach out to persuade you. Only to encourage you… I believe you will hear from heaven.” Huckabee described his own diplomatic role in Israel as a mission directed by Trump: “You sent me to Israel to be your eyes, ears, and voice… Our flag will NOT come down!”
Trump captioned the post: “From Mike Huckabee, a Pastor, Politician, Ambassador, and Great Person!”
But while Trump clearly viewed the message as affirming, the public reaction was anything but unified. Many users on X (formerly Twitter) expressed deep discomfort—not only with the religious tone of the message, but with its implications for U.S. foreign policy amid an already dangerous international conflict.
“This is one of the most pathetic things I’ve read from a U.S. official,” one person wrote. “The sheer level of groveling is nauseating.” Another added, “Aw sh*t, it’s getting biblical now. We’re cooked.”
Others criticized the merging of political leadership and divine prophecy. “In what world would Jesus Christ encourage war and the mass murder of people?” one user asked. “Jesus stood for peace. Shame on you.”
The message comes at a time of heightened violence in the Middle East. Since June 13, Israeli airstrikes have killed over 220 people, according to AP News. In response, Iran’s missile retaliation has left at least 24 dead and hundreds more wounded. While the U.S. has not directly entered the conflict militarily, Trump’s public comments and actions—including the Huckabee leak—are adding fuel to an already combustible situation.
With diplomatic tensions climbing and rhetoric turning apocalyptic, many are now left asking: What’s next—and who’s really in control?
