Tom Homan warns: Politicians vilifying ICE could trigger deadly attacks

During a heated appearance on Fox News Channel’s The Ingraham Angle Tuesday night, former acting ICE Director Tom Homan issued a grave warning: escalating anti-ICE rhetoric from lawmakers may soon have deadly consequences.

Homan, who now serves as an immigration adviser under President Trump’s renewed administration, condemned Democratic members of Congress for vilifying federal immigration officers — a trend he says is fueling public hostility.

“It is disgusting,” Homan stated bluntly. “A lot of our congressional representatives who are vilifying ICE and the Border Patrol every day — they’re driving this hate. And I’m telling you, it’s only a matter of time before an ICE agent is either killed or forced to take a life to protect their own.”

He pointed to years of political attacks that have painted federal agents as villains, despite their work protecting national security and combating trafficking. “The world’s upside-down,” he added. “The badge is now the target, and the lawbreaker is the hero.”

Homan also highlighted what he described as significant wins since Trump returned to office in 2025, noting that border security has seen major improvements. “Under President Trump, we’ve seen a 50% drop in fentanyl trafficking,” he said. “Sex trafficking, especially of women and children, is down. Migrant deaths are down because fewer are making the dangerous journey.”

Fentanyl and human trafficking remain top concerns for Homeland Security. Homan stressed that ICE officers often target criminal illegal aliens — not families or non-violent migrants. “The majority of people ICE arrests are public safety threats,” he said. “And the rest are often in sanctuary cities, which make our job harder.”

He criticized sanctuary jurisdictions for shielding non-citizens from federal enforcement, describing them as “havens for lawbreakers” that put agents and communities at risk.

The former ICE chief’s stark comments come amid growing protests against immigration enforcement operations across the country. Some demonstrations have escalated, with agents reportedly facing threats and harassment.

Still, Homan insisted the agency’s mission remains vital: “President Trump and ICE are saving lives. We’re taking down smugglers, reducing overdoses, and keeping violent offenders off the streets.”

As the administration tightens its grip on border enforcement, Homan warned that unless political leaders change their tone, the consequences could be tragic — not just for law enforcement, but for the entire nation.
