Rep. Jasmine Crockett Signals Possible Investigations Into Trump and Family if Democrats Regain House

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) stated in a recent interview that if Democrats regain control of the House in the 2026 midterm elections, they are prepared to initiate investigations into former President Donald Trump and members of his family.

Appearing on MSNBC’s Alex Witt Reports, Crockett responded to a question about whether Democrats would pursue inquiries into Trump’s business dealings, including alleged cryptocurrency acquisitions and foreign financial relationships.

“So long as we end up taking the House—which I fully anticipate—we will conduct constitutionally mandated oversight,” Crockett said. “That means we will investigate.”

Crockett, who serves on the House Oversight Committee and has expressed interest in chairing it, pointed to potential areas of concern such as alleged violations of the Emoluments Clause and foreign gifts, specifically citing reports of a $400 million plane possibly provided by Qatari interests.

She also raised questions about the Trump Organization’s business activities abroad, including a new golf resort project reportedly under development in Qatar. Crockett referenced concerns over past remarks about Gaza’s potential real estate value and recent reports involving cryptocurrency-related ventures.

“These are things that deserve examination under the law and the Constitution,” Crockett said, asserting that Democrats would take a serious look at potential financial conflicts of interest and any other areas requiring oversight.

Crockett compared the proposed investigations to those Republicans have pursued into Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden’s son. She noted that many of those inquiries focused on Hunter’s business roles and alleged influence during Biden’s vice presidency.

Republicans have long maintained that their investigations into Hunter Biden—particularly his role with Ukrainian energy company Burisma—were based on documented evidence. President Biden issued a pardon earlier this year that covers certain federal offenses related to that time.

Crockett concluded that if Democrats reclaim control of congressional oversight powers, they would have “no shortage of areas to investigate.”

“The American people deserve transparency,” she said. “And we intend to uphold that responsibility.”
