On Wednesday, Elon Musk ignited a storm across social media, taking direct aim at President Donald Trump in a blistering series of posts. The focal point of Musk’s criticism? Trump’s dismissal of the highly controversial “Epstein Files” as little more than a political hoax.
Musk, who once appeared to be in lockstep with Trump on several issues, wasted no time in making his thoughts known. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk sarcastically questioned how anyone could claim the Epstein scandal was fabricated when Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime associate, remains in federal custody for trafficking underage girls. The comment read:
“Wow, amazing that Epstein ‘killed himself’ and Ghislaine is in federal prison for a hoax 🤔.”
But that was only the beginning.
Over the span of just one hour, Musk posted more than a dozen times, consistently drawing attention to what he perceives as a lack of accountability surrounding Epstein’s network. He stated bluntly:
“Not a single Epstein client has been prosecuted. Not even one.”
Musk didn’t just stop with the facts—he added fuel to the fire by insinuating that powerful individuals, including Trump himself, may have something to hide. He echoed suspicions that the infamous Epstein client list, long speculated to exist, has been buried to protect the elite. Responding to another user, Musk wrote:
“So many powerful people want that list suppressed.”
Earlier this year, former Attorney General Pam Bondi made headlines when she claimed the list was “on her desk.” But according to Musk, that list has mysteriously disappeared from public discourse—something he believes is no accident. The Trump administration later released a statement claiming no such list was ever officially maintained, further deepening public skepticism.
In a now-deleted post from June, Musk even went as far as naming Trump in connection to the Epstein documents, claiming the president was deliberately keeping certain names under wraps. Although he later backed away from that claim, the damage was done. Speculation about what—or who—might be included in the hidden documents has only intensified.
The tension between Musk and Trump has been mounting in recent months, following a public fallout that ended what many saw as a tactical alliance. Musk’s renewed focus on the Epstein controversy appears to be more than a personal feud—it’s become a campaign for what he frames as transparency and justice. Yet, some political observers suggest it may also be part of a broader strategy to distance himself from Trump ahead of a potential political pivot.
Musk’s posts have triggered backlash among some of Trump’s most loyal supporters. Prominent figures who once aligned themselves closely with the president are now speaking out. Others have taken to social media in protest, some even going so far as to destroy MAGA merchandise in symbolic acts of disapproval.
In one particularly pointed post, Musk referenced an old intelligence mantra:
“Admit nothing. Deny everything. Make counterclaims. But it won’t work this time.”
Whatever Musk’s ultimate motive may be, one thing is undeniable: he has thrust the Epstein conversation back into the mainstream spotlight—this time, with a direct challenge to the sitting president.
