President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran following the United States’ recent missile strikes on the country’s critical nuclear sites. The attacks targeted the Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan facilities, with Trump declaring the mission a “massive precision strike” and a “success.” The U.S. action was prompted by a report from an international nuclear watchdog warning that Iran was dangerously close to producing a nuclear weapon.
In a nationally televised address, Trump emphasized the severity of Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the necessity of the strikes. “A short time ago the US military carried out massive precision strikes on the three key nuclear facilities in the Iranian regime—Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” he said. “Everybody has heard those names for years as they built this horribly destructive enterprise.” The President’s comments came just after the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS), a non-profit monitoring group, published findings showing Iran could produce weapons-grade uranium (WGU) in just days at the Fordow site.
ISIS’s report detailed that Iran’s enrichment of uranium has reached levels of 60%, far exceeding the 3.5% typically needed for nuclear reactor fuel and approaching the 90% enrichment required for a functional nuclear weapon. The group warned that Iran could produce enough WGU for multiple nuclear weapons within months if unchecked. “Iran could produce its first quantity of 25 kg of WGU in Fordow in as little as two to three days,” the report stated.
Iran’s government strongly condemned the U.S. strikes, with Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi describing the attacks as a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. “The United States, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law and the NPT by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations,” Araghchi tweeted. He warned that the strikes would have “everlasting consequences” and declared that Iran reserved all options to defend its sovereignty and interests.
In response to threats of retaliation, President Trump issued a fierce warning on his Truth Social platform, stating, “Any retaliation by Iran against the United States of America will be met with force far greater than what was witnessed tonight.” The President made clear that any counterattack would provoke an even more powerful U.S. military response.
The strikes and subsequent warnings mark a significant escalation in tensions between the U.S. and Iran. With Iran’s nuclear program inching closer to weapon capability, the situation remains highly volatile. The international community watches closely as these developments could have far-reaching implications for regional stability and global security.
