A tragic double homicide in Carroll County, Georgia, has taken a chilling turn after 17-year-old Sarah Grace Patrick, who delivered a heartfelt eulogy at her mother and stepfather’s funeral, was later charged with their murders.
The case has gripped the community and sparked viral attention online after video footage surfaced of Sarah tearfully honoring her parents—only for investigators to later accuse her of being responsible for their deaths.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Kristin Brock, 41, and James Brock, 45, were found dead in their bedroom on February 20, 2025, from apparent gunshot wounds. The discovery was made after Sarah’s 6-year-old sister found the bodies, prompting Sarah to call 911.
What followed was described as a “relentless investigation” that lasted months and involved local and federal law enforcement agencies. Authorities said the decision to arrest Sarah was based on “mountains of physical and digital evidence,” along with countless interviews that eventually led them to file charges.
Sarah Grace voluntarily turned herself in and has been charged as an adult with two counts of murder. At a press conference, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Ashley Hulsey said officials are still trying to determine a motive. “We don’t know what goes through the mind of a child that wants to harm her parents,” she said. Hulsey added that “additional arrests are possible” in what she called a “very horrific and sad case.”
Before her arrest, Sarah had been publicly mourning the loss of her parents. At the funeral, she delivered a tear-filled eulogy, saying:
“I never once thought to imagine y’all not being here… I didn’t have a single clue how much I needed y’all until now.”
However, the video of that eulogy has since resurfaced on social media, with some viewers—and even family members—casting doubt on her sincerity.
Krysten Dowda, niece of the late James Brock, told the Daily Mail she wasn’t surprised by the arrest.
“She fake-cried at the funeral,” Dowda claimed. “She reached out to everyone in her life and on the internet and her story changed. The pieces just weren’t making sense.”
Dowda also questioned Sarah’s account of the events the night her mother and stepfather were killed. Sarah allegedly told others that she didn’t hear anything unusual—except for James Brock’s heart medication alarm going off.
Family members found it implausible that multiple gunshots could have gone unheard in a small home, especially by someone living under the same roof.
Authorities haven’t released further details on the weapon used or possible accomplices, though the investigation remains active.
As Sarah Grace Patrick awaits trial, the small Georgia community continues to reel from the shocking loss of two lives—and the disturbing possibility that the tragedy was carried out by someone they never suspected.
