Speaker Johnson Hints at Stunning Move Against Obama — Is a Subpoena Next?

NOTE: EXCLUSIVE VIDEO ATH THE END OF THE ARTICLE.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson made headlines this week after signaling that Congress may consider issuing a subpoena to former President Barack Obama. The reason: alleged coordination with intelligence agencies during the final months of his administration aimed at undermining then-candidate Donald Trump.

In a recent interview with journalist David Brody, Johnson emphasized the need for accountability and transparency. While he stopped short of confirming the subpoena as a done deal, his tone suggested that the matter is being taken seriously behind the scenes. “We have a responsibility to follow the truth, where it leads,” he said, underscoring the need for a process rooted in law rather than politics.

Johnson drew a sharp contrast between his approach and what he described as the previous administration’s “partisan political plot.” According to the Speaker, the issue at hand is not political retribution, but the need to restore trust in the nation’s intelligence systems and uphold constitutional boundaries.

“If it’s uncomfortable for him, he shouldn’t have been involved in overseeing this, which is what it appears to us has happened,” Johnson added, referencing Obama’s potential role in approving surveillance activities connected to Trump’s 2016 campaign.

This push for further investigation comes in the wake of statements made by current Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard. In a separate appearance, Gabbard revealed that newly released documents suggest there was coordination “at the highest level” of the Obama administration to build a narrative tying Trump to Russian election interference.

“There was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016 committed by officials at the highest level of government,” Gabbard stated. She alleged that intelligence was politicized and weaponized, not to protect the country, but to manipulate public perception during a presidential election. “Their goal was to subvert the will of the American people,” she continued, calling it “a years-long coup.”

According to Gabbard, over 100 documents released just days ago point directly to President Obama’s involvement. These materials, she claims, show that the effort to link Trump to Russia wasn’t based on verified intelligence, but rather on manufactured narratives designed to destabilize a rival candidate’s legitimacy before he ever took office.

She called the implications of the findings “historic,” stressing that the issue transcends party affiliation. “This is not a Democrat or Republican issue — this is an issue that is so, so serious, it should concern every single American,” Gabbard warned.

The broader conversation is now shifting back to the roots of the Russia investigation, known as Crossfire Hurricane. Members of Congress are reviewing both classified and declassified materials that cover the critical period before and after the 2016 election. Their goal: to determine whether any senior officials crossed legal or ethical lines in the final months of the Obama administration.

As investigations deepen and the rhetoric grows sharper, calls for testimony and potential subpoenas continue to mount. Whether or not former President Obama will ultimately be compelled to appear before Congress remains to be seen—but the debate has clearly reached a new level of urgency and intensity.
