In a stunning declaration that has reignited debate across the political spectrum, President Donald Trump announced the official nullification of several high-profile pardons issued by former President Joe Biden. Among those affected are Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, current U.S. Senator Adam Schiff, and retired General Mark Milley. Trump alleges the pardons are illegitimate and has pledged to hold those involved in the January 6 investigation fully accountable.
The president made the announcement via Truth Social and later reiterated it in public remarks, claiming the pardons were executed using an autopen—a mechanical device used to reproduce signatures. According to Trump, this undermines the legality and intent of the clemency, and further suggests that Biden was mentally unfit and unaware of the documents he supposedly signed.
“The ‘Pardons’ that Sleepy Joe Biden granted to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, due to the fact that they were executed by Autopen,” Trump wrote.
Dr. Fauci, who retired from federal service in 2022, had received a controversial pardon from Biden amidst investigations into pandemic-era decisions. Liz Cheney, once a Republican representative from Wyoming and a vocal critic of Trump, was similarly pardoned for her role on the House January 6 Committee. Adam Schiff, now serving in the U.S. Senate, and Mark Milley, the retired Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, were also among those cleared in Biden’s final days.
Trump questioned not only the method of signing but also Biden’s awareness and intent. “Biden did not sign them but, more importantly, he was completely uninformed about them! He had no idea who or what he was pardoning,” Trump asserted. “Those who orchestrated this may have committed a crime.”
The president went further, stating that members of the January 6 Committee—who he claims destroyed and deleted key evidence—should expect criminal investigations. “They should fully comprehend that they are subject to investigation at the highest level,” he declared.
Trump specifically targeted the committee for what he described as a “two-year Witch Hunt” against him and other innocent Americans. “The fact is, they were likely responsible for the Documents that were signed on their behalf without the knowledge or consent of the Worst President in the History of our Country, Crooked Joe Biden!” he said.
Trump concluded his remarks by noting that the courts would ultimately determine the legal fate of the pardons, but he firmly believes they are “null and void.” As the legal and constitutional battle over executive clemency unfolds, the political firestorm it has sparked shows no sign of cooling.
