The five-page filing outlines what investigators describe as a deliberate attempt to secure favorable mortgage terms on a residential property in Virginia — a case that now threatens to end a prominent public career.
The charges stem from a 2020 real-estate purchase in Norfolk, Virginia, financed mostly through a federally backed loan. Investigators say the borrower falsely certified that the home would serve as a personal “second residence,” a designation that carries lower interest rates and fewer restrictions.
