An internal FBI memo from 2020, recently uncovered by Congress, reveals a startling claim: the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) may have attempted to meddle in the 2020 U.S. presidential election using counterfeit driver’s licenses.
The intelligence bulletin, dated August 24, 2020, was shared with several federal agencies at the time. It detailed a claim—sourced from a confidential informant—that China was producing and sending large numbers of fake U.S. IDs to individuals on American soil. The alleged goal? To allow foreign nationals, particularly Chinese citizens sympathetic to the CCP, to cast mail-in ballots in favor of Joe Biden.
What makes this memo particularly strange is what happened next: the FBI issued a recall just days after it was circulated, ordering all copies destroyed and removed from internal systems. The agency stated the recall was for “source re-interview,” but no public explanation was ever given—until now.
FBI Director of Congressional Affairs Kash Patel recently released the memo to Senator Chuck Grassley, who is now demanding answers about why such an explosive report was buried. The memo was labeled “raw intelligence” and hadn’t been fully verified—but the claims inside were specific and troubling.
Adding to the mystery, U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized nearly 20,000 fake U.S. licenses arriving from China and Hong Kong just weeks before the 2020 election. Many of those IDs were headed to Midwestern states—some of which played a critical role in the final outcome.
Even more alarming, the report suggested that China may have used stolen U.S. personal data—allegedly gathered via apps like TikTok—to craft ultra-realistic fake IDs that were nearly impossible to detect.
Senator Grassley now wants a full investigation into the recall, the source behind the intelligence, and whether the FBI failed to pursue legitimate concerns of foreign election interference. Patel has confirmed that an internal review is underway.
The question remains: Was this a false alarm, or a foreign influence operation that was swept under the rug just before a pivotal election?
The American people deserve the truth—and lawmakers appear to be taking steps to uncover it.
