Hillary Clinton Proposes Memorial Day ‘Mission’ For Families: Trash Trump’s Budget Bill

Hillary Clinton has once again waded into national politics, this time urging her followers to bring up President Donald Trump’s budget plan during Memorial Day weekend gatherings—an approach critics say is likely to spark tension rather than conversation.

Nearly a decade after her 2016 defeat, Clinton remains an active and polarizing figure in political discourse. On Friday, the former secretary of state took to X to share a list of talking points aimed at criticizing Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping budget measure that narrowly passed the House and now faces an uncertain path in the Senate. Republican Senators Susan Collins (R-ME), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Rand Paul (R-KY) have all expressed concerns about the legislation.

“I’m giving you a mission for this Memorial Day holiday weekend,” Clinton wrote on the X platform. “I want you to talk to two people—friends, neighbors, cookout attendees—about why Trump’s proposed budget would be a disaster for American kids. We owe the next generation every chance, and this isn’t it.”

Clinton shared a script outlining four ways she claims the bill would negatively affect children—a tactic often used by Democrats to appeal to emotion and pressure the public into supporting their policy positions.

– Drastically cut health care. 15 million Americans, including millions of children, could lose access through Medicaid cuts and ACA marketplace changes.

– Increase food insecurity. Nearly 11 million people—including 4 million kids—could lose SNAP food assistance.

– Make families poorer. The bill would kick 4.5 million American kids off the child tax credit.

– Leave AI dangers unchecked. The bill would freeze state-level AI regulation for 10 years, stripping states of the ability to protect kids from deep fakes, exploitation, and more.

Trump and Republicans have repeatedly said they’re not going to cut benefits such as Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, though they are interested in cleaving waste, fraud, and abuse, which Elon Musk’s DOGE team says amounts to hundreds of billions of dollars.

Clinton turned off replies to her post so no one could respond, but several users took to X to “quote” her tweet and add their own thoughts.
