Jesse Watters Crew Trolls James Comey at His Empty Book Signing Event [WATCH]

Former FBI Director James Comey faced backlash last week after posting a controversial image on social media that many interpreted as a veiled threat against President Donald Trump.

The post featured a photograph of seashells arranged on a beach to read “86 47,” which critics said referenced a coded phrase calling for the elimination of the 47th president — President Trump.

The post quickly sparked a storm of criticism online and was later removed.

Comey claimed the post was innocent and denied any violent intent.

Despite his explanation, the U.S. Secret Service reportedly contacted him to discuss the meaning of the message.

Comey addressed the situation during an appearance Monday on MSNBC with Nicolle Wallace.

During the interview, he described the shell arrangement as “clever” and said it showed “artistic flair.”

He continued to insist he meant no harm by the post and stated he did not regret sharing the image.

Comey also claimed he often finds political messages in seashells while walking on the beach.

Prior to the 2020 election, he posted a photo of a shell bearing a message urging voters to support then-Senator Kamala Harris.

While defending the post, Comey also took aim at Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who had previously called for his arrest over the post.

Comey characterized her remarks as an overreaction to what he said was a harmless act during a walk with his wife.

The controversy reached another level when Fox News host Jesse Watters sent correspondent Johnny Belisario to attend a book signing event for Comey.

The segment, which aired on Watters’ program, showed Belisario confronting Comey with direct questions about the “86 47” post.

Footage from the event showed Belisario approaching Comey with a copy of his book and asking, “Why did you want to ‘86’ President Donald Trump?”

Comey appeared visibly irritated and replied, “I’m not taking questions like that now.”

Belisario followed up by asking whether Comey had been interviewed by the Secret Service. Comey, appearing uncomfortable, asked if Belisario still wanted his book signed.
