Trump Baffles Public With Claims About American Pope and Inventing Common Word

Donald Trump has once again caused a stir with two surprising and unusual statements made within a short span of time.

The former president left many scratching their heads after he appeared to link himself to the recent election of Pope Leo XIV as the new head of the Catholic Church, following the passing of Pope Francis last month.

After news broke that Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost would become the first American pope in history, Trump posted: “A huge congratulations to Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost on being named Pope. It’s an incredible moment for our nation—what an exciting time. Truly a great honor for America.”

He added, “I look forward to meeting Pope Leo XIV soon. That will be something truly special!”

The following day on Truth Social (May 12), Trump followed up by implying that his popularity among Catholic voters may have influenced the pope’s election.

Taking aim at journalist Martha Raddatz of ABC, he wrote: “Hilarious watching old-timer Martha Raditz [correctly spelled Raddatz] on ABC Fake News (the Slopadopolus Show!) claiming Trump had no influence on Pope Leo being selected.”

He continued, “It came out of the blue, but clearly she’s got Trump on the brain. Let’s not forget—I won the Catholic vote, and won it big!”

Then, taking a shot at Disney CEO Bob Iger, he wrote: “Time for Iger to fix the mess on his failing shows. Too many losers and haters. Time for a reset. MAGA all the way!!!”

Things got stranger still when, later that same day, Trump made another odd statement—this time suggesting he had coined a word that’s been in the English language for centuries.

While speaking at a press briefing about a new executive order aimed at reducing prescription drug prices, Trump told reporters: “The rest of the world is going to start paying more, and we’ll be paying less. America has fewer people than the world, obviously.”

He added, “What we’re doing is something I like to call ‘equalizing.’ It’s a term I just thought of. Probably the perfect word. We’re going to equalize things. Everyone will pay the same. No more overpaying for Americans.”

Despite the claim, the word “equalize” is far from new. According to Merriam-Webster, it dates back to the year 1599.

The internet responded quickly and mockingly. One commenter noted, “There was literally a show in the ‘80s called The Equalizer. Did he also invent that back in 1983?”

Another user wrote, “If he just came up with it, why does everyone already know what it means?”

A third joked, “Just made up a new word: horses**t. Never been used before. Just invented it right now!”

These latest statements add to a long list of eyebrow-raising moments that continue to keep Trump in the headlines—often for reasons that leave many stunned or simply confused.
